How to purify the body and eliminate excess fluids
Cultures the world over share a constant idea of purification as an indispensable weapon in the fight to prevent disease, which proliferates where waste accumulates, and promote health, which blooms when physical, mental, and emotional purity is assiduously pursued. The continuous renewal of the body’s cells and tissues, the production of dietary metabolism-generated waste, the introduction of substances, such as additives, preservatives, colourings, residues of food processing, and medicines, the stagnation of fluids and the slowing down of vital activities as a consequence of a sedentary lifestyle, the progressive accumulation of muscle tension, create the need to remove substances, waste, and toxins which, by progressively accumulating, especially in the connective matrix, prevent, slow down or impede the normal vital processes and the continuous regeneration process.
General measures
A correct alimentary regimen, based on a detoxifying diet, and an active lifestyle are essential for detoxifying the body, countering water retention and strengthening the immune system, following a detox programme that helps eliminate toxins and excess fluids. The first measure to take, therefore, when it comes to purifying the body is adopting correct eating habits, which are summarised in 10 points below.
- Do not eat before the food taken with the previous meals has been digested. The practice of partial, short-term and well-tolerated fasting is healthy, as it gives the digestive system time to rest.
- Reduce animal proteins (meat, cheese, eggs) to be consumed in just one meal during the day and alternate them with plant-based foods that are rich in protein, such as pulses.
- Avoid ‘trans’ fats which are extensively used by the food industry and limit animal-origin saturated fats.
- Consume ‘good’ fats that are to be found mainly in cold-pressed organic plant oils and in some fish.
- Limit as much as possible baked goods, desserts, ice cream, cakes, pastries, jams and all refined sugars or sugars with a high glycaemic index, opting instead for whole grains, such as wholemeal bread and pasta.
- Thoroughly eliminate or limit foods that contain additives, preservatives, colourings, cultivation residues, choosing foods produced with organic methods and processed with natural systems.
- Make a point of consuming generous quantities of raw vegetables, seasonal fruits and forest berries on a daily basis.
- Drink at least 1.5 litres of (mineral, if possible) water per day, between meals, as well as fruit juices, green tea, and lemon juice. Try also to take in fluids in the form of broths, soups, juices, and fruit and vegetable smoothies. Green tea is a particularly recommended beverage.
- Take adequate physical exercise every day, without frenzy and anxiety, such as walking, running, cycling, going to the gym, or swimming.
- Regularly do detoxifying treatments, especially during the change of the seasons.
Detoxing with medicinal plants
It is also known as ‘drainage treatment’, as its main goal is to eliminate the toxins that continuously accumulate in our body, especially as a result of dietary, environmental and medicine-induced pollution. It also serves to eliminate the products released following cellular renewal. Drainage is practiced by gently and extensively stimulating the elimination organs, such as the skin, the lungs, the liver, the kidneys, the intestine. Detoxing treatments are followed for a few weeks. The ideal periods are early spring (‘spring treatments’) and the autumn, to prepare the body for the change of the seasons.
In general, we distinguish between two types of drainage: ‘non-specific’, which has an effect on more than one elimination organs, and ‘specific’, which acts selectively on one organ (the skin, the liver, the kidneys).
Simple purification
The indications of simple purification or non-specific drainage include various conditions, such as the change of the seasons, convalescence, excess weight, changes in metabolism, hepatic steatosis (‘fatty liver’), water retention, digestive problems, halitosis, stypsis, persistent tiredness. The medicinal plants used act on the main elimination organs, such as the stomach, the liver, the intestine, the urinary tract.
Primum purifying mini-drink with Turmeric and Ginger
To encourage the process of simple purification, Specchiasol offers Primum purifying mini-drink with Turmeric and Ginger. The preparation is in the form of concentrated mono-dose liquid sachets, without added colourings or alcohol. The plants used promote the digestive process (Ginger), facilitate the detoxification of the liver (Burdock, Artichoke, Milk thistle, Horseradish), stimulate the elimination of fluids (Stinging nettle), act as anti-inflammatories (Turmeric).
The recommended dosage is one liquid sachet per day, to be taken preferably in the morning, for at least 20 consecutive days and for cycles to be repeated as needed.
Drainage of fluids
The most common form of specific drainage is based on the use of preparations that promote the elimination of excess fluids, mainly in conditions characterised by water retention, premenstrual syndrome, recurring oedema and swelling, cellulite. The medicinal plants used mainly perform a diuretic, proteolytic and antioxidant action.
Primum mini-drink l’Acquaretico with Papaya
To promote the elimination process of excess fluids, Specchiasol offers Primum mini-drink l’acquaretico with papaya. The preparation is in the form of concentrated mono-dose liquid sachets, without added colourings or alcohol. The plants used promote the elimination of excess fluids in urine. Papaya, defined by Vasco da Gama as ‘the golden tree of eternal youth’, contains a mix of proteolytic enzymes: papain, chymopapain A and B, lysozyme, papaya proteinase. It also has a powerful antioxidant effect, due to its high content in vitamin A, B, C.
Green and unripe papaya fruit contains 5,000% more papain compared to the ripe fruit.
Primum mini-drink l’Acquaretico with Papaya is mainly indicated in case of water retention and cellulite. The former is characterised by the tendency to retain fluid, with weight changes during the hormonal fluctuations of the menstrual cycle and digestive problems. Cellulite, also known as ‘fibrosclerotic panniculopathy’, is the result of the accumulation under the skin of a gelatinous substance, as a consequence of a disorder of the connective tissue and of microcirculation. The skin takes on the characteristic ‘orange peel’ appearance.
The recommended dosage is one liquid sachet per day, to be taken preferably in the morning, for at least 20 consecutive days and for cycles to be repeated as needed.
