The continuous renewal of the body\u2019s cells and tissues, the production of dietary metabolism-generated waste, the introduction of substances, such as additives, preservatives, colourings, residues of food processing, and medicines, the stagnation of fluids and the slowing down of vital activities as a consequence of a sedentary lifestyle, the progressive accumulation of muscle tension, create the need to remove substances, waste, and toxins which, by progressively accumulating, especially in the connective matrix, prevent, slow down or impede the normal vital processes and the continuous regeneration process.<\/p>\n<h2>General measures<\/h2>\n<p>A correct alimentary regimen, based on a detoxifying diet, and an active lifestyle are essential for detoxifying the body, countering water retention and strengthening the immune system, following a detox programme that helps eliminate toxins and excess fluids. The first measure to take, therefore, when it comes to purifying the body is adopting correct eating habits, which are summarised in 10 points below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not eat before the food taken with the previous meals has been digested.\u00a0 The practice of partial, short-term and well-tolerated fasting is healthy, as it gives the digestive system time to rest.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce animal proteins (meat, cheese, eggs) to be consumed in just one meal during the day and alternate them with plant-based foods that are rich in protein, such as pulses.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid \u2018trans\u2019 fats which are extensively used by the food industry and limit animal-origin saturated fats.<\/li>\n<li>Consume \u2018good\u2019 fats that are to be found mainly in cold-pressed organic plant oils and in some fish.<\/li>\n<li>Limit as much as possible baked goods, desserts, ice cream, cakes, pastries, jams and all refined sugars or sugars with a high glycaemic index, opting instead for whole grains, such as wholemeal bread and pasta.<\/li>\n<li>Thoroughly eliminate or limit foods that contain additives, preservatives, colourings, cultivation residues, choosing foods produced with organic methods and processed with natural systems.<\/li>\n<li>Make a point of consuming generous quantities of raw vegetables, seasonal fruits and forest berries on a daily basis.<\/li>\n<li>Drink at least 1.5 litres of (mineral, if possible) water per day, between meals, as well as fruit juices, green tea, and lemon juice.
